Murray Edwards — Artist Bio

Murray Edwards is an Australian artist whose work emerges from a lifetime spent building worlds. For decades he worked as an Art Director, Scenic Artist, Designer and Set Builder across theatre, television and film — crafting environments for other people’s stories. Over time, the need to express his own story grew louder.

That shift began in the remote landscapes of Western Australia, where Edwards lived off‑grid for years, travelling between locations in a rugged ex‑military Land Rover. The solitude, the silence, and the vastness of the land became the catalyst for a deeper transformation. Painting became the way he articulated that change — a movement away from noise and fragmentation, toward clarity, coherence and inner alignment.

His work blends organic forms with quiet internal geometry, creating images that feel both natural and intentional. Each piece reflects the evolution of a man rebuilding his life from first principles, guided by simplicity, presence and the search for meaning.

Today, Edwards continues to develop a body of work shaped by the landscapes he inhabits and the life he has lived. Future video content will document these journeys — the remote camps, the shifting light, the creative process unfolding in wild places.
